Amy Martin

Like many of the artist on the Camano Island Studio Tour, Amy has been painting and drawing her whole life. From her early years in high school when she was active in art class pursuing diverse mediums from pottery and watercolor to acrylics and oils – to her college years at Edinburough University where she majored in creative writing and minored in painting – art and the creative discipline of language and imagery has always been a part of her life.

She’s focused much of her art career in metaphysical painting – studies of ghostly imagery. She’s recently also been inspired by the natural world of Camano Island and has pursued straight landscape painting.

Committed to continuing her education in artistic expression, Amy is currently getting her MFA in Creative Writing at Goddard College. She sees language, literature and visual art as all connected.

“It’s about a lot of emotional energy – writing and painting are two sides of the same coin.”

Her professional career has been as diverse as her art – an army pilot turned Microsoft manager, that creative energy has been a part of everything she does.

Amy moved to Camano Island nearly seven years ago and has been working tirelessly on remodeling her home over those years. She is excited to see it complete soon and ready to share with tour visitors in her newly designed studio.
